Born (1975) in Haarlem and raised in Amsterdam, the Netherlands (Holland), Tim Verbeek grew up being youngest to two brothers. The Verbeek family is a family of entrepreneurs and used to own a large in- and export business in flowers. Tim did not pursuit a career within the family business yet achieved a Bachelors and later a Masters Degree in Marketing. He obtained his Masters Degree from The Vrije Universiteit of Amsterdam.

Tim Verbeek successfully finished an internship with KLM Royal Dutch Airlines before he was assigned as Associate Teacher of Communications within the Faculty of Marketing and Communications of the Hogeschool Holland, University of Professional Education in Amsterdam. In 1999 Verbeek moved to LA and worked as an Aid to the Consul for Cultural and Economic Affairs of The Netherlands Consulate General and his Country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Consulair Office in Los Angeles, California.

In 2001 Tim moved back to Amsterdam where he started his career as Marketing Professional within the Fast Moving Consumer Goods Industry. Verbeek learned his skills while employed by Unilever and Heineken. In 2008 Tim Verbeek founded Online City Media, Inc. a network of online magazines featuring lifestyle and entertainment.

His first online magazine, LA2DAY.COM was launched in Los Angeles and currently attracts over a 100,000 readers a month. Expansion to other cities and countries is currently set in motion, such as the recently launched French version of the magazine FR2DAY.COM.

Recently Verbeek handed over management of LA2DAY to Christian Stibbe who also owns and operates Nine Streets, an Amsterdam and Los Angeles based animation production company and boutique advertising agency. Verbeek stepped down as president as he returned to his home country to rejoin with his family. Tim Verbeek then became Head of Marketing at the 'Dirk van den Broek' supermarket chains and has recently rejoined Unilever N.V.

Tim returned to Amsterdam late 2009 and started as Marketing Manager at Dirk van den Broek on January 1, 2010. He heads a team of 14 and is responsible for all day to day marketing operations including advertising, special promotions, theme promotions and marketing and brand strategy development. Verbeek is member of the Management Team.

Dirk van den Broek owns and operates the Dirk, Bas and Digros supermarket chains, employs around 15,000 people and recently merged with DekaMarkt. Other group companies include D-Reizen (Travel Agency), DirckIII (liquor stores) and Dirx (drug stores).

Verbeek's responsibilities included the strategic positioning and communication development for Heineken´s premium Brand. Including but not limited to the initiation, development, execution and evaluation of Consumer Research, Brand Development, Innovation, ATL Campaigns, in-home & out-of-home Brand Activation, Events & Sponsorship. Coach to a Brand Manager and a Junior Brand Manager. Results included the increase of sales volume by 7% in a declining market (market share growth), and a significant positive effect on key Brand parameters and Brand Health.

As Senior Brand Manager Desserts Benelux Verbeek was responsible for the 2007 repositioning of Unilever’s Ice Cream Dessert Brands Hertog (Family Brand) and OLA Viennetta (Heart Brand). For this he was awarded the prestigious consumer ‘Brand of the Year Award’ for Hertog. In addition he managed to increase Market Share from 45% to 49% in a highly competivite market.
As Brand Manager Knorr Tim Verbeek was responsible for NPD for a part of the Knorr Brand Meal Maker Portfolio and ATL/BTL support for new product launches and Brand Equity Development. Achieved significant market share growth. As Category Manager Meal Solutions Tim was co-initiator of Marketing and Sales activities for Unilever’s key food brands Knorr, Bertolli and Conimex for all National Accounts and achieved a sustainable turn-around in the meal maker category for Unilever.

Verbeek was assigned as Assistant to the Consul for Economic & Cultural Affairs. His main objective was to improve trade relations between companies in the Netherlands and the Western United States, with a focus on Water Purification, Biotechnology and ICT. Other responsibilties included the representation of the Dutch Immigration and Naturalization Service and the Dutch Diplomatic Service; providing (field) assistance to Dutch Nationals under all circumstances, working together with US Law Enforcement and the US Department of Homeland Security (former INS).
